Des is a respected Aboriginal Elder from the Pertame clan of Central Australia. His connection to Queensland is through his Grandmother who was born ‘in the bush’ near the old railway siding of Malbon, near Cloncurry. He is a highly skilled executive leader with extensive Board experience in the not-for-profit social and community services industry and public sector.
With a wealth of experience in leading the development and implementation strategy, policy and service delivery solutions within an alliance framework, Des is dedicated to maximising operational efficiency and effectiveness. His strategic mindset, combined with a background in risk management, operations management and corporate governance, drives the development of next-practice operating models and impactful organisational change. His exceptional human skills and integrity promotes effective communication and encourages stakeholder buy-in, with numerous examples of facilitating workforce change reluctance shifting to change championing.
Des’ qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management and a Bachelor degree in Creative Writing from Charles Darwin University, and his extensive board experience includes ANTAR (Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation), OXFAM Australia, Murri Watch and Charles Darwin University.
Fiona is a proud descendant of the Djabera Djabera people from Western Australia’s Kimberly region. She has extensive leadership experience in developing and implementing strategies to improve outcomes for First Nations peoples across Higher Education, Youth Justice, Domestic Violence and large corporate sectors.
Fiona brings over twenty years of experience in leading effective teams, designing and delivering innovative solutions, leading cultural awareness training and building strong partnerships with stakeholders. She is committed to supporting organisations in building their cultural capability and safety, eliminating institutional racism and achieving equity. Her deep knowledge of issues affecting First Nations peoples, including lived experience, enables Fiona to develop targeted strategies that address root causes rather than just symptoms, leading to more sustainable outcomes for all.
Fiona’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian Catholic University and a Diploma of Management from the Indigenous Institute of Australia.
Shae is an astute Quandamooka/Wakka Wakka woman with nearly thirty years' expertise in project and program management, business management, policy development and strategic planning.
Specialising in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support services and community engagement, Shae has honed these skills through extensive work in Higher Education and the public sector.
Shae has a strong background in promoting change and achieving measurable results in the development and execution of community programs and activities. Known for providing creative and effective change management proposals, Shae drives significant changes that benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and makes a positive and long-lasting contribution to organisations.
Shae’s qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact from Swinburne University, a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Leadership from Griffith University, and a Bachelor of Business from Charles Darwin University.
