Kate Merry, Bellette

I have known Des Rogers for over 20 years, and his approach is consistently underpinned by a ‘change for improvement’ foundation. Throughout his extensive career in both employment and volunteer roles, Des has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to bridge cultural divides, fostering mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration among diverse groups.

Des's approach to intercultural relations is one of respect, inclusivity, and collaboration, and it is this approach that has made him such an esteemed figure across multiple regions in Australia.

His ability to connect with people from all walks of life, coupled with his genuine passion for social justice, enabled him to lead successful initiatives that addressed key issues such as equity, inclusion, and cultural preservation.

His leadership in these areas has left an indelible mark on the communities he served, fostering environments where diversity is celebrated, and everyone feels valued.

Eileen Heywood, Heywood Consulting Group

It has been a pleasure to work with Des Rogers over the last decade.

I have partnered with him in the delivery of First Nations Mentoring Programs for various State Government agencies.

These include The Yarn and Grow Mentoring Program for both the Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works and the Department of Transport and Main Roads, as well at Journey together for the Department of Justice and Attorney General.

Whilst his role includes the provision of cultural knowledge and advice, it is much more than this as Des weaves his emotional intelligence skills to support and nurture both the confidence and competence of the mentee cohort, and challenge and reframe their thinking and ways of working.

Des is a trustworthy and capable thought leader to take your organisation on a journey to a more inclusive, kinder and more productive organisational culture.

Paul Wright, (fmr) ANTAR National Director

Des Rogers brings a wealth of experience accumulated over decades and I have benefited directly from the warm and generous way Des shares that wisdom and experience. Running an ally organisation, advocating for the rights of First Nations peoples across Australia, I had a close working relationship with Des as one of the senior Aboriginal Directors on the Board.

Des was an integral part of the organisational reform agenda I undertook over a six year period, and I relied on Des’ knowledge and experience on organisational governance, financial strategy and cultural navigation.

Des is a connector, many times Des was able to join up people, communities and organisations to collaborate better.

I strongly endorse Des Rogers and am glad I have a friend, ally and colleague to call upon whenever needed.
